IMPACT STATEMENT: MARCUS CARTER

I joined the NCG youth forum sometime in January because I believed that I had some bright ideas that could be used in the Norwood community. Since I joined the youth forum it helped me build up some of my skills that I am going to need when I grow up for example punctual skills and also my communicational skills I have also gained AQA accreditation in basic self defence Kickboxing. This happened by me having to attend meetings and have a educational input to the meeting. Being a part of the forum has helped me as I was given a laptop to help with my studies, as I am starting college soon.  Now a couple months down the line I am now running a football/basketball class with one of my fellow youth forum members which was designed by our forum of young people and also led by us. Great stuff!

IMPACT STATEMENT: ZAKARIYA A RAHMAN

I have been at Norwood Community Group since it has started. and I have attended most of the projects that we have put on. Due to this I have received a number of AQA’s, this is when i took these AQA’s into school to show that I do outside work and now they have moved me to the top class. Later on I joined the NCG Youth forum and it has given me a lot of privileges i.e. Take on a bigger role in projects and to make my say in what should happen for the youths. So this is why I thank Norwood Community Group for what they have given me.

IMPACT STATEMENT: MIKHAIL PREDDIE

Hi my name is Mikhail Preddie - football coach/Norwood youth forum chairman and security for NCG events. From the 1st time I got myself involved with NCG in 2006 I knew it would change my life and other peoples.

I became part of the youth forum, this was to make a change in Norwood I was a part of this for a year then I went on to college when I returned in 2008 I got offered a job to become a football coach which I teach every Tuesdays @ Chatsworth Baptist Church.

I am also a youth worker, NCG referred me on a National door supervisor course level 2 which I passed, and also I start my football academy very soon.

IMPACT STATEMENT: CARL LAMEY

Introduction: My name is Carl Lamey of NCG Services and I am a trainee youth worker. The qualification I will receive will be a NVQ level 2 in youth work, the company who this course is run through is called B2B Engaged. I work at NCG Services for 16 hours a week and get paid monthly. I am on training for 8 months and nearly have completed my time however; I plan to stay for good God willing.

My Journey: Since being at NCG Services, I have the pleasure of working with youth, planning and delivering projects along with other workers. Going to meetings has often given me an idea of what the community need in Lambeth and how it will have a positive effect on the youth. Planning projects is great, hard work but a great learning curve. Delivering is even better and great way to indulge and hear what the youth want. Since being at NCG Services I have met great people and learnt more about myself, I have also received various qualifications such; First Aid, Safeguarding Children, EYS Training, Dealing With Difficult Families and aim to receive more by God’s grace. I love this work and thank God for my journey.
